Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (also known as ACT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit social service agency providing safe, free, and confidential services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. ACT has been providing a circle of support for victims and their families since 1978. Managing one of the largest safe housing facilities in the State of Florida with 106-beds, ACT provides critical services to those in crisis through a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, forensic examinations, medical, legal and personal advocacy, violence prevention programs, children’s programs and more.
In 2015, ACT provided 5,654 clients with services. 256 were victims of sexual assault, of which 125 received the forensic examination for rape. In addition, 650 clients stayed in ACT’s safe shelters (half of whom were children). For more information, please visit www.actabuse.com.
